Barcelona is a tremedous place to be. It boasts outstanding Gothic and Art Nouveau buildings, particularly those by Antoni Gaudí, and some great museums, most notably those dedicted to Picasso and Catalan Art.
It is above all a place where there's enjoyment in simply walking the streets, stopping in at bars and cafes. La Rambla or Les Rambles is the most famous street in Barcelona. The wide boulevard connects the Plaça de Catalunya, a busy square, to the Monument a Colom, a tall column erected in honor of Christoffel Columbus.
