Day 1 –Local pick up then ferry Belfast-Stranraer and on across the Ayrshire countryside to our hotel in Stirling.
Day 2 – Excursion to the Highlands including Oban - the ‘Gateway to the Isles’; Fort William, situated beneath Britain’s highest peak, Ben Nevis, and through stunning scenery to Glen Coe, site of the infamous 1692 massacre.
Day 3 – Excursion to Royal Deeside. We visit St Andrews, home of golf, then travel past Dundee and Blairgowrie, known for its soft-fruit growing, to Braemar, site of the first Highland Games in the heart of the Cairngorm mountains. Then we drive through beautiful Royal Deeside to the village of Crathie, close to the Royal Family’s summer residence, Balmoral Castle. We see world-famous Crathie Church where the Queen attends service, and enjoy the splendid views of the mountain of Lochnagar. Return to the hotel via Perth.
Day 4 – Check out of the hotel and go straight to the Royal Highland Show for a full day at this exciting event. The Show has a huge array of top quality livestock and horses, displays of contemporary agricultural machinery and showcases the best food and drink produced in Scotland and the UK. There are also show-jumping, displays of rural skills and crafts, competitions, programmes of music, shopping arcades, cookery theatres, forestry arena, countryside pursuits, full catering services and refreshments. After the show we drive the short distance to our hotel in Strathclyde for dinner and overnight.
Day 5 – Depart after breakfast for Stranraer and the return ferry to Belfast with onward transfers to original pick up points. |
